Are You Trustworthy?

As we celebrate this beautiful Resurrection Sunday I feel it necessary to ask this question: are you trustworthy? This two-fold inquiry must be answered in order to establish your position in the Kingdom of God. But, first understanding the duplicity of this question is most significant. The first portion is, are you a trustworthy confidant to your fellow brothers and sisters here on earth? Can people trust that your word is your bond? Secondly, can God trust you with spreading the Good News that He has given you? Can He trust you to be a valid representation to the world of this Gospel?

These questions arose in my spirit this morning after reading a passage of scripture in Hebrews 6 beginning at the 4th verse.

“For it is impossible [to restore and bring again to repentance] those who have been once for all enlightened, who have consciously tasted the heavenly gift and have become sharers of the Holy Spirit, And have felt how good the Word of God is and the mighty powers of the age and world to come, If they then deviate from the faith and turn away from their allegiance--[it is impossible] to bring them back to repentance, for (because, while, as long as) they nail upon the cross the Son of God afresh [as far as they are concerned] and are holding [Him] up to contempt and shame and public disgrace.” (4-6 AMP)

This passage was quite alarming to me because it identified the detriment of being untrustworthy with the word of God. God has given us the Good News for our redemption and salvation through His Son Jesus. However, if we turn away (willingly) from the Gospel, Hebrews details that it is impossible for us the be restored back to our salvation. Wow! Therefore, with urgency I ask my readers to not turn from the Gospel because of persecution, trials, and tribulations. It’s not worth losing the salvation that you have already personally experienced. Moreover, if you turn away, think of all the individuals that you are letting down that were supposed to experience the Truth through you!

So I poll the question again; can God trust you with His Gospel? Can He trust you to hold fast to His word even through persecution? Can God trust you to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ’s Resurrection EVERY DAY and not just on Easter? Your very salvation and that of others depends on your trustworthiness.

Think about it… Can God and the people He’s placed in your realm of responsibility trust you?
